The 麻豆果冻传媒 Waste House is a building constructed using over 85% waste material and is a living laboratory for ecological architectural design. Demonstrating various principles of sustainable architecture and design, the building aims to prove that often undervalued and so-called ‘waste’ material has the potential to become a valuable resource.
The project was created in partnership with waste re-usage experts, and a range of specialists and waste-concern enterprises. Researchers found that there were many problematic practices leading to unnecessary waste, and they aimed to re-purpose discarded materials within the construction process. Old toothbrushes that had only been used once and thrown away, for example, were used for wall cavities.
